Junior Cricket

Thirsk will be again be represented in 4 local Junior Leagues in 2008. Thirsk currently has around 80 junior players registered to play for the club with ages ranging from 6 to 18 years old. Thirsk has an array of coaching talent with experienced coaches such as Pat Ruecroft, Barry Petty and Des Wyril.

This year there will also be 4 newly qualified coaches with Neil Laidlaw progressing from ECB level one to level two, John Cook and Mark Nursey taking their ECB level two exams in early March, as well as Dan Orchard who is taking his level one course throughout the summer. All the club coaches are confident that they can keep the recent success of 2007 ongoing throughout 2008. We proudly opened our new practise area in 2007 and we will be switching arround the coaching nights in order to allow all age groups to make use of these facilities.

Additionally in 2008 i hope that the junior cricketers parents will continue to get involved with the club in all areas. We will be looking for parents who wish to help out with coaching, scoring, umpiring and proving transport for the players to and from games. If you are interested in getting involved please come along your son/daughters practise night and speek to the coaches involved, im sure your support will be greatly appriciated.
